After four weeks at the top, The Night Agent was knocked down a peg on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV list. The series came in second for the week of April 17 to April 23, overtaken by The Diplomat.
The Diplomat, which debuted on April 20, raked in 57.5M hours viewed in its first few days on the service — squeaking past The Night Agent‘s tally of 57M.
The Night Agent also solidified its spot at No. 5 on Netflix’s list of most popular English-language series of all time with a final total on 626M hours viewed in its first 28 days. It sits behind Stranger Things 4, Wednesday, Dahmer and Bridgerton Season 2.
Speaking of Wednesday, the series marked its 20th week appearing in the Top 10, which is quite a feat as well, tallying another 9.5M hours viewed.
Beef came in at No. 3 this week with another 42.8M hours viewed, while Love Is Blind Season 4 took fourth place with 39.5M hours viewed. New to the rankings were Better Call Saul Season 6 and How to Get Rich.
As for films, The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die sat at No. 1 with 27.M hours viewed. That was about double the tally for second place, which went to Let Him Go making its debut appearance on the list with 14.1M hours viewed.
There were several other newcomers to the film list including A Tourist’s Guide to Love, The Snowman, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always and F9: The Fast Saga.

Nominees who felt more like usual suspects — including Soundgarden, the White Stripes, Iron Maiden, Warren Zevon and the new-wave mash-up of Joy Division/New Order — were all passed over this year.Instead, it is indeed a new order with three women leading the list — Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow and Missy Elliott — who couldn’t be more different, ranging from alt-rock to hip-hop. And rounding out the 2023 inductees are George Michael, a gay pop superstar; Willie Nelson, a country music icon; and the Spinners, a black R&B vocal group.Michael’s induction, coming seven years after the “Faith” singer died at 53, is the latest posthumous honor coming after Whitney Houston, the Notorious B.I.G., Nina Simone and Tupac Shakur in recent years. It’s certainly great to see Nelson — who just turned 90 last Saturday — get his flowers while he can still smell them.
The Night Agent dropped out of the top three on Netflix’s list of most popular English-language TV shows for the week of April 24 to April 30. Meanwhile, The Diplomat held onto its crown.
Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Thanks to a towering debut by “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,” Taylor Swift now has three albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, as the vinyl-only Record Store Day exclusive sold through all 75,000 of the available copies to land at No. 3 for the week. The double-LP release joins two other albums Swift already had in the top 10 as of last week: “Midnights,” at No. 4, and “Folklore,” at No. 10. Swift becomes the first artist to pull off that feat since 2016, when three of Prince’s landed in the top 10 following his death, according to Billboard. It’s also a rare feat for a female artist; Whitney Houston became the first woman to score three albums in the top 10 in 2012.
BreAnna Bell Apple TV+’s comedy “Ted Lasso” cracked Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart during the March 27 – April 2 viewing window, coming in at No. 10 on the list with 570 million minutes viewed following the Season 3 release on March 15. According to Nielsen, over half of that recorded figure was generated by the most recent episode. Meanwhile, “The Night Agent” set a new record as it continues to lead the rankings for the second week. This week’s number was up 17% from last week to 3.1 billion viewing minutes — pushing the series to No. 24 on Nielsen’s list of most-watched streaming titles in a measurement week since 2020. It’s worth noting that there have only been 26 titles since 2020 to garner over 3 billion viewing minutes in a measurement week.
climbed further atop the list after earning the No. 6 spot last week.

Fans of Britain's Got Talent were left unimpressed as they accused the show of a 'fix' after a heartwarming mother-daughter audition. On Saturday night's episode of the show, Claire Connelly made the ultimate sacrifice for her daughter, as she told the judges that she in fact was giving up her audition so her 15 year old daughter Tia could take her place instead. Claire said to BGT judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli: "She [her daughter] thinks it’s me who’s auditioning.
Britain's Got Talent fans were moved to tears by a surprise gesture in Saturday night's episode (April 22) as Claire Connolly stepped up onto the stage in front of judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell. At first it appeared that Claire was going to audition.
Netflix has dropped a brand-new political drama that fans are comparing to hit shows like The West Wing and House of Cards. The Diplomat dropped on the platform on Thursday (April 20) and is described by Netflix as a “high-stakes, contemporary political drama about the transcendence and torture of long-term relationships, between countries and people”.
The Night Agent reigned over Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming list during its premiere week, but it didn’t prevent other streamers from holding their own against Netflix. Seven different streamers made it onto Nielsen’s streaming charts across original and acquired programming for the week of March 20 to 26.
Selome Hailu “The Night Agent” debuted in the top position of Nielsen’s streaming rankings for the week of March 20-26. The Netflix political thriller was watched for 2.6 billion minutes in its first four days of availability, which according to Nielsen, makes it the 38th most watched streaming title in a measurement since 2020. While impressive, the news is unsurprising — the series has soared on the Netflix Top 10, which publishes immediately following each viewing window, rather than with Nielsen’s four-week delay. By Netflix’s own measurement, “The Night Agent” has already become the streamer’s sixth most popular English-language series of all time. Interestingly, Nielsen says that “The Night Agent” is the oldest-skewing title on the list this week, with 60% of viewers over age 50.
Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Diane von Furstenberg, the influential fashion designer who popularized the women’s wrap dress, will be the subject of a new documentary at Hulu. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the Oscar-winning filmmaker of the shorts “Saving Face” and “A Girl in the River,” is directing the film with Trish Dalton. A release date and title for the feature-length documentary will be announced at a later date. Through archival footage and intimate interviews, the film takes a deep dive into the life and career of von Furstenberg, who forged a path for herself in a male-dominated industry and built a multi-million-dollar fashion empire. She was born in Belgium to Holocaust survivors and began designing women’s clothing around 1970, about a year after marrying Prince Egon von Fürstenberg. They divorced in 1983 and she later moved to New York, where her company’s flagship boutique is still located. Von Furstenberg’s designs have been worn by everyone from Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton to Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna and Whitney Houston.
Emily Tannenbaum Fans of FX’s popular Cold War drama “The Americans” will undoubtedly check out “The Diplomat” in the hopes that Keri Russell’s next political thriller can fill the heart-pumping void the hit series left behind in 2018. They shouldn’t — at least, not for that reason. Though “The Americans” and “The Diplomat” share a star, as well as a similar focus on marital power struggles, the new series from “Homeland” executive producer Debora Cahn is less gritty spy thriller and more soapy workplace drama. Throughout the show’s eight, hour-long episodes, I found myself thinking of “The Diplomat” as a Shondaland-inspired take on “The West Wing,” which makes sense considering Cahn cut her teeth as a writer on both “Grey’s Anatomy” and Aaron Sorkin’s NBC series.
scored an early Season 2 renewal at the streamer, logged another 90.04 million hours viewed for the week, and has tallied more than 73 million viewers to date. Last week, the action-packed series entered Most Popular Top 10 List at the No.
The Night Agent is still sneaking its way up Netflix‘s list of Most Popular TV.

Angelique Jackson The all-star cast for Netflix’s adaptation of August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson” has been revealed. Oscar winner Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington will star in the feature film, reprising their roles from the highly successful Broadway revival of Wilson’s play, which recently concluded its run at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Set in 1936 Pittsburgh during the aftermath of the Great Depression, “The Piano Lesson” follows the lives of the Charles family, a household led by Doaker Charles (Jackson), and an heirloom, the family piano, which is decorated with designs carved by an enslaved ancestor. Washington plays Boy Willie, Doaker’s nephew, a role Jackson originated in the 1987 production.
