ITV viewers may not be aware of a "seriously bad" eye condition The Chase host Bradley Walsh suffers from. The former Corrie star has opened up in the past about his blepharitis diagnosis and the impact on his life.
Bradley, whose mum hailed from Bellshill near Glasgow, told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford about his health battle while he appeared on This Morning previously, as writes the Birmingham Mail. He has to take medication daily to manage the condition.
He said: "People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis.
"I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle. I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out.
"So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don’t realise. If I take medication though, I'm fine."
Speaking in 2020, the former Doctor Who actor issued another update about his health to the Sun: "I was a time bomb. I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer.
"I thought, ‘Oh crikey, I’m gonna be bang in trouble here if I don’t lose the weight and start dealing with this’."
Blepharitis, according to the NHS website, is a condition that causes swollen and itchy eyelids. It’s not usually serious and can often be treated by washing your eyelids every day. Blepharitis symptoms often come and go and can include sore eyelids and itchy eyes, as well as a gritty feeling in the eyes, flakes or crusts around the roots of the eyelashes and eyelids sticking together in the morning when you wake up.
