EXCLUSIVE: Maxwell Acee Donovan (That ’90s Show) and Kim Dickens (Fear The Walking Dead) are set as series regulars opposite Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks in Prime Video‘s thriller series The Better Sister, based on the novel by Alafair Burke.
Hailing from Tomorrow Studios, which will co-produce with Amazon MGM Studios, The Better Sister meditates on the terrible things that drive sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together. Biel leads the cast as Chloe, who moves through the world with her handsome lawyer husband Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) struggles to stay clean and hustles to make ends meet. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, laying bare long-buried secrets.
Cast also includes series regulars Corey Stoll and Bobby Naderi.
Donovan will play Ethan, 17, who adores his loving mother Chloe (Biel) and has a complicated relationship with his overachieving, overbearing father, Adam (Stoll). When he’s swept up in a family tragedy, his mother can no longer protect him, and he’s forced to face his fears head on.
Dickens will portray Nancy Guidry, a detective investigating Adam’s (Stoll) murder, Guidry sees more than anyone else in the room, and isn’t afraid to tell you all about it.
Olivia Milch (Ocean’s 8), who wrote the pilot, and Regina Corrado (Mayor of Kingstown) serve as executive producers and showrunners. Craig Gillespie (Pam & Tommy) will direct the series and exec produce alongside Annie Marter through Fortunate Jack Productions. Selome Hailu Jason George is returning to “Grey’s Anatomy” as a series regular after seven seasons of starring spinoff series “Station 19,” which aired its series finale in May. George joined “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2010, playing surgical resident Ben Warren as a recurring role beginning with Season 6, before being upped to series regular in 2015’s Season 12. After three seasons as a series regular, he left the series to join “Station 19” in 2018, with Ben deciding to become a firefighter.
