Tess Daly has given a glimpse into the adorable welcome home party she threw for husband Vernon Kay after his incredible ultramarathon for Children in Need.
The Strictly Come Dancing presenter, 54, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, 19 November to share a snap of the 'warm welcome' she'd organised for Radio 2 presenter Vernon, 49, after her returned home. A series of congratulatory cards could be seen as well as a gift bag and small bottle of champagne. A card with 'congratulations Vernon' printed on it was on display a well as multicoloured bunting and numerous small candles.
"Our hero returns!" Tess proudly wrote. "A warm welcome for @vernonkay so proud!" Vernon took on a 115-mile ultramarathon to raise money for Children in Need - a charity that supports disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. He started his journey in Leicester's Victoria Park and finished four days later at the Bolton Wanderers stadium, his hometown.
As of 20 November, Vernon has raised £5,849,484. Vernon started his journey on Tuesday, 14 November and finished at Bolton Wanderers Stadium on Friday, 17 November at 10.30am - an hour later than planned. His proud parents Gladys and Norman, along with many family members, were there to greet him as he made his triumphant arrival.
Unfortunately Tess couldn't be there to greet her husband at the finish line, as she was busy in Blackpool filming Strictly Come Dancing. She expressed her disappointment at having to miss the incredible moment, saying she was "gutted".
