Vernon Kay received a ‘hero’s welcome’ in Greater Manchester on Saturday night as he hosted his first fundraiser since completing his charity marathon challenge.
The TV presenter, 49, has spent most of the week taking part in a ‘ULTRA Ultramarathon’ for Children in Need where he ventured 115 miles on foot from Victoria Park in Leicester to Bolton. Vernon arrived to huge cheers as he completed the challenge at the Bolton Wanderers stadium on Friday morning.
But not content with putting his feet up, Vernon returned to the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground - where he had started his final journey to Bolton on Friday morning - to host the Football For Change gala.

The event, which was attended by the likes of Coleen and Wayne Rooney, Olly Murs, Christine McGuinness, and Abbey Clancy, was held in a bid to raise £1 million to help disadvantaged young people in the UK.
Now in its third year, the fundraising extravaganza was launched in 2021 by Liverpool FC star Trent Alexander-Arnold, Leicester City’s Conor Coady, Jamie Carragher and Real Madrid icon Jude Bellingham in a bid to provide life-changing opportunities in education, employment and sport for school leavers affected by poverty.
Speaking about Vernon’s hosting job, Jamie said: "I'm so happy Vernon could join us and for him to donate his time to the charity after the week he had is just amazing. He is a legend.
"Vernon played a massive role in the night and Football For Change is not stopping here. We are going to help so many people with the money raised."
