Shoppers have been warned not to use one Tesco brand salt in a recent food recall.
According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), Tesco's British Cooking Salt may contain small pieces of plastic, making the 1.5kg bag unsafe to eat. The recall came accompanied by a "do not eat warning" by the FSA.
If you recently bought the £1.90 product, look for the relevant batch code which is 3200. Anybody affected by the recall has been encouraged to return the product in stores for a refund with no receipt required.
The cupboard staple was the subject of a food recall issued on July 28. The warning says: "Tesco is recalling Tesco British Cooking Salt because it may contain small pieces of plastic. The possible presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat."
"If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund, no receipt is required. For further details, please contact Tesco Customer Services directly on: 0800 505 555."
An allergy alert was also issued on August 1 for Findlater's Fine Foods Roast Smoked Salmon Pate as it could contain undeclared mustard. The recall only affects products sold in Waitrose stores for anyone with an allergy to mustard.
