definition of soul food is love,” Reynolds told The Post. “Togetherness, and love language when your back is against the wall.”The show defines “soul food” as “Making something out of nothing, with sustenance and love in every bite.” Reynolds wanted to do a show focusing on soul food, she said, because “I wanted to know what soul food meant. What it meant in America, and wanting to see if there were similarities around the world, in what other countries considered their soul food.” She kicks off the series by tracing the roots of soul food to the legacy of African American cooking, starting in Mississippi, before she makes a surprising connection to Native Americans in Oklahoma. “There are things that I learned,” Reynolds said, “and things that I think some experts didn’t know, or the average black American, or the average American, for that matter. I want this show to be for everybody.

Mediahub Aims to Add Cultural Metrics to TV’s Measurement Debate

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Big media companies and Nielsen have battled for months over the exact way to count TV viewers who no longer watch traditional TV when they want to see a favorite sitcom or drama. One media agency wants to test a different tactic. Mediahub, a media-buying agency that is part of Interpublic Group, has been asking big media companies to consider ad deals that involve not just guarantees of audience impressions, as has long been the norm. but commitments to other sorts of measures that examine whether the commercials spur the people who saw them to take new action. Such a deal could put “more skin in the game from media partners,” says Carrie Drinkwater. the agency’s chief investment officer. “It also helps them change the conversation to get away from the Nielsen linear discussion.”

Horizon Media Plans to Utilize VideoAmp Data in TV Upfront Deals

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Many TV networks have struck measurement deals with VideoAmp, one of a handful of companies eager to provide an alternative to Nielsen’s tabulation of audiences. Now a company that buys TV time for blue-chip advertisers has done the same. Horizon Media, a large media-buying firm that works for clients including Corona and the National Football League, will use VideoAmp’s audience-measurement tools to help negotiate and transact ad deals between select clients and sellers for national linear TV inventory. Horizon will also use VideoAmp for planning, analytics, and measurement. “There has been a more meaningful movement this year to actually participate with alternative currencies and transact on them,” says David Campanelli, Horizon’s chief investment officer, in an interview. The bulk of the deals, he says, “are still happening on advanced audience targets, versus what we commonly think of with Nielsen ratings, which are demo and impressions counting.”

Morgan Wallen Rules Albums Chart for 11th Week, as Jonas Brothers Launch at No. 3 and Daft Punk Makes Comeback at No. 8

Thania Garcia Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time” spends an 11th consecutive week topping the Billboard 200 albums chart — meeting marks set by the “Titanic” soundtrack, which ruled over the chart for 16 weeks in a row back in 1998, and joining record-setters Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder. In the latest tracking week, “One Thing” garnered the equivalent of 134,500 sales in the United States, including 165 million streams, according to data by Luminate. The 36-song set is the first of any genre to spend its first 11 weeks at the summit (meaning it opened at No. 1 and stayed there) since Houston’s 1987 album “Whitney,” which boasted classics like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go.” Before that, Wonder’s “Songs in the Key of Life” notched 13 weeks at No. 1 in 1976 and 1977.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor TV’s Spanish-language Univision network will broadcast Super Bowl LVII next year, adding a new entrant to the usual coterie of English-language outlets that show the game. The deal was struck in partnership with the NFL and CBS Sports, which has the rights to show the game in English. Zack Sharf Digital News Director Timothée Chalamet is playing the world’s most famous chocolatier in Warner Bros.’ upcoming musical “Wonka,” but it wasn’t necessarily the Roald Dahl source material that sparked his interest in joining the project. The Oscar nominee told Vogue magazine that he was drawn to playing Willy Wonka for the simple reason of making a movie for a younger, more optimistic demographic of moviegoers. “To work on something that will have an uncynical young audience, that was just a big joy,” Chalamet said. “That’s why I was drawn to it. In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there’s so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate.”

Jonas Brothers made their first joint appearance on on Sunday, and looked back at their younger years in the spotlight.During a segment called «Agree or Disagree,» Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas were posed a series of questions by host Andy Cohen, including if they think is a better movie than (agree), and if they were the best singers in a Disney Channel collaboration that also featured their exes, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato (disagree). One burning question the brothers weren't shy about answering was about their infamous purity rings, which they wore during the start of their career — publicly vowing that they would wait until marriage to have sex.«The purity rings were a bad idea, one, two, agree or disagree,» Cohen asked. Joe, Nick and Kevin all turned their paddles around to flash «agree.» «In theory they're not a bad idea,» Nick quipped. «But you should know what you're signing up for before you sign up for it.»«When you're 12 versus when you're like 16 is a very big difference,» Joe added.Cohen then asked the brothers if there was a big moment when they took the rings off, to which Nick replied, «It just sort of happened.» Today, the singers are all married.

The brothers have worked out a system to performing sensual songs, so you won't hear Joe and Nick duetting any suggestive lyrics.
