A teacher has been left frustrated at a set of parents for their "ridiculous" decision to give their twins near-identical names. Telling young twins apart can be difficult at the best of times but there are usually ways to do so.
Each sibling will develop different characteristics and personalities - and their names are usually distinct enough to give you a helping hand.
This was not the case in one family, however, who chose to give their daughters incredibly similar monikers, The Mirror reports.
And a teacher who was drafted in as a substitute to lead the girls' class was left baffled by the decision. They were so taken aback by the names that they headed online to share their story.
But when the educator went on Reddit, they found out that the situation was not as rare as they thought. Revealing they were teaching twins called Selene and Selina, they asked: "Anyone else ever come across an equally ridiculous sib set?"
As it turned out, many users had experienced a similar situation. One reply read: "My husband went to school with twins named Chris & Christopher."
A second said: "My dad knows twins his age named Rick/Ricky and Richard." And someone else revealed: "I went to school with identical twins named Kelly and Kellen."
The question also sparked a debate about the merits of siblings having similar titles. One woman wrote: "I know twins with the same name, same spelling - no joke. Both Leonardo.
"The mum loved the name and had it picked out and had SURPRISE twins… she just rolled with the same name. [They have] different middle names and, mercifully, the second at least goes by the middle name but what a logistical nightmare.
