Suzanne Shaw is one of several brave celebrities, including former Celebrity SAS contestant Michelle Heaton, to be vocal about her alcohol-free journey. On Thursday, the 42 year old took to Instagram to celebrate four years of sobriety, in an inspirational post in which she explained exactly why she decided to quit the booze. In a montage video put together by the former Hear’Say singer, including one clip which Suzanne called ‘embarrassing’, she told followers it was 'time to escape the alcohol trap', be 'hangover free' and live her best life.
Also included in the montage were videos of the healthier, fitter Suzanne of today - contrasted with clips of her with wine bottles - the version of her, she says, she no longer wants to be. She captioned the post: "4th January 2020 I made a promise to myself… To respect, love and care for me." She insisted: "No more living a life to fit in with society, drinking myself into ill mental and no doubt eventually poor physically health. "It was time to commit to a life to be proud of." The star, who won Dancing On Ice in 2008 with pro skater Matt Evers, went on: "I used to visualise myself being healthy and taking adventures, sharing my wellness journey and knowledge and helping raise awareness for mental health and today that’s exactly what I do.
"I push my limits, care for my well-being, share my story and coach others to live a healthier lifestyle." Suzanne urged people to 'choose you and your health and happiness'. The star went on: "If you are on a wellness mission or taking a break from alcohol here are my 3 top tips… "1. Commit - own your decision and know your why.
"2. Consistency - small steps every day. Break it down to 1 job, prioritise your wellbeing daily.
