Susanna Reid has expressed her devastation over the "senseless" death of Michael Mosley on Good Morning Britain.
The beloved TV doctor, known for his frequent collaborations with ITV and appearances on This Morning, has sadly passed away on the Greek island of Symi.
His body was discovered behind a wall and fence that encloses the remote Agia Marina resort, after it is thought he strayed from a rocky path and succumbed to the intense heat or suffered a fall.
His heartbroken wife Clare released a poignant statement following the revelation that he was found mere yards from the ocean and a gate leading to a neighbouring resort, still clutching the purple umbrella he had with him, the Mirror reports.
On Good Morning Britain today, Susanna remarked: "There is a huge outpouring of love and sadness over the death of Michael Mosley... People are absolutely gobsmacked on what on earth could possibly have happened.
"He was on this gorgeous Greek island, he'd been there before with his life. He just leaves the beach to make his way to the accommodation - it just seems - everyone scratches their head.
"Had he taken a wrong turn? Perhaps he got hydrated - his wife said he did have a bottle of water; he had his umbrella. There's that sense of why did it happen? Could it have been avoided? Why on earth it's taken so long to find him? ".
She later remarked: "It just seems so senseless really. Of course, this is our top news this morning because his body has been transferred to the Greek island of Rhodes. There there will be a post-mortem. A preliminary examination has ruled out any foul play."
