Sunny Day Real Estate return with new single and announce 30th anniversary tour

Sunny Day Real Estate have returned with their first new single in 10 years, ‘Novum Vetus’, and announced a run of shows to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal album ‘Diary’.The emo legends, who announced their reunion in 2022, had been teasing the song earlier this week by sharing a minute-long snippet to Instagram. The sound soundtracks a video of an artist drawing the phrase “novum vetus”, (Latin for “everything old is new again”) and then sketching out a boat at sea, over which frontman Jeremy Enigk was heard singing: “The day we died inside, the world was suffering / 10,000 words collide but no one said a thing / the day we died inside the walls come tumbling down.”Although ‘Novum Vetus’ is only just seeing the light of day, it was first conceived when Sunny Day Real Estate were recording 1998’s ‘How It Feels to Be Something On’.

‘In the Summers’ Review: Moving Debut Spans the Foundational Years of a Parent-Child Relationship

Carlos Aguilar A backyard swimming pool tells part of the story in Colombian American writer-director Alessandra Lacorazza Samudio’s “In the Summers.” As it goes from refreshing site of joyful congregation to an ignored eyesore in mounting disrepair, the recreational amenity establishes itself as a potently grave motif for the passage of time in this unsentimental, and yet immensely affecting debut feature about a complicated parent-children relationship. Told in four elliptical segments, it spans roughly two decades.

Sleep Token wipe Instagram: “Nothing lasts forever”

Sleep Token have wiped their Instagram account, following an apparent leak of a member’s identity. The British metal band have wiped their Instagram clean of posts, leaving behind only a profile picture of frontman Vessel and a bio that ominously reads: “Nothing lasts forever”. While this move could suggest that the band is transitioning into a new album cycle, fans are also speculating whether the move is a response to an identity leak of a band member. The band, who notably keep their individual identities heavily guarded, recently had member III’s personal information leaked onto the internet, with the perpetrator finding and revealing their birth certificate, prompting angry responses from fans on X, and triggering concerns that Sleep Token’s latest move on Instagram suggests their disbandment.“The fact that someone went and found III’s birth certificate and posted it, forcing him to delete all social media, is absolutely disgusting.
