A teenager has been arrested after a spate of robberies in south Manchester.

A university student who drove his car over a 14-year-old boy in the street denies attempting to murder the teenager. Ibraheem Anwar, 23, denies deliberately driving over the boy, who was seriously injured and admitted to intensive care.
He claimed he was unaware that the boy was under his Audi A4 when he drove over him. Prosecutors allege that Mr Anwar, who had two friends in his car, had chased the teenager after an 'altercation'.
Paramedics were called to Heald Place in Rusholme just after 7.40pm on July 13 last year. Mr Anwar, an accountancy and finance student, drove away from the scene but handed himself in to police the following day, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Giving evidence, Mr Anwar said he was going out for food on the Curry Mile with two friends that night. He claimed that when he parked his car, as one friend smoked cannabis, that the 14-year-old approached and offered to sell them cannabis.
Mr Anwar said his friend declined his offer, and claimed the boy asked the passenger to hand over his phone so he could input his number into the handset. But Mr Anwar claimed that when his friend handed over his phone, the 14-year-old and his associate ran off, stealing it.
He told jurors that he had seen the 'outline of a knife' in the 14-year-old's waistband. Mr Anwar said his passenger said 'stop him' and told him to 'block him' from where he was running.
Mr Anwar drove off, and around a minute later he saw the 14-year-old. Jurors watched CCTV footage which showed Mr Anwar mount the kerb as the boy ran.
