Strictly Come Dancing star Nancy Xu has issued an update to concerned fans after she suffered an unexpected injury during the first live show last weekend. The professional dancer, who first joined the Strictly family in July 2019, was performing her first dance with celebrity partner Les Dennis when an unfortunate accident saw her bleeding by the time the dance was completed.
Immediately after her performance, eagle-eyed fans noticed there was blood on Nancy’s neck and raised their concerns about her wellbeing after noticing the injury, but it wasn’t until she appeared on It Takes Two several days later that the truth emerged about what had caused it. Speaking to Janette Manrara on It Takes Two, she said: "I didn’t even feel it,” as she revealed the blood had been caused when her earring had accidentally been ripped out.
Following her confession, a shocked Janette responded: “I always knew you were a machine – now it’s fact!” Doubling down on how impressive it was that Nancy had barely even flinched, Janette added: "She's such a pro that through blood and sweat you carried on, because there was a bit of an accident with your earring..." Before partner Les cheekily joked: "It wasn't me I didn't do it.” Despite the injury however, Nancy and Les were still able to finish their dance, which for Week One was a Tango set to Don't You Want Me by The Human League. Although the performance saw them face the bottom of the leaderboard after earning just 16 points out of 40, former Family Fortunes star Les insisted that he was undeterred by the score.
He told Janette: "I don't care, that's fine. You know what there's only one way and that's up or it could be down but I don't care.” Les then made reference to Shirley’s kind comments
