Strictly's Giovanni Pernice breaks silence as Amanda Abbington quits BBC competition

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has broken his silence after Amanda Abbington dropped out of the BBC competition.
The Sherlock star, 49, is reportedly devastated as she drops out of the series after her time on the show was 'plagued by difficulties'. Amanda shared a post about mental health after pulling out of Saturday's show with partner Giovanni, 33, due to medical reasons.
On spin-off show It Takes Two, Amanda's exit was confirmed and a statement was released saying: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future."
A video of Amanda's best moments on the series was broadcast before host Fleur East added: "Amanda we are sending you all of our love."
Addressing the news, Giovanni took to Instagram writing: "Amanda .. I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly."
A Strictly insider told Mail Online: "This has been something that Amanda has been unfortunately having to consider making since late last week. It has been a devastating time for Amanda. Her Strictly journey has been plagued by difficulties but she just didn't think there was any other option.
"As hard as it has been, there was a chance they could have won."
The couple have come far after it emerged that Amanda was close to quitting the series in week one after a series of rows with Giovanni. The pair have put on a united front after reports emerged that Amanda threatened to quit the show after rows with Giovanni.
