A man who shared his experience visiting a Poundbakery store in Stockport has been praised for his ‘brilliant’ retelling which featured everything from ‘merseysquarzian peacocks’ to peas described as ‘fresh mined emeralds’.
The reviewer, who used the name Ben Wright, posted his verdict on the Mersey Square branch of the budget bakery on the Stockport Food Reviews Facebook page earlier this week. Ben said his experience ‘didn’t disappoint’ with his pastry ‘nothing short of perfection’.
Ben wrote: “Well, earlier in the week, I paid a visit to the Poundbakery in the Mersey square – and it didn’t disappoint. I had barely passed the threshold and I was immediately welcomed by a very handsome lady, In fact I would go as far to say that she was (and I refer to a well used phrase here) piping hot!

“With her help, I settled on a traditional pasty. I decided to dine in the pseudo alfresco area at the frontage of the bistro. Now I should point out that it is one of those very modern, very minimalistic patio areas- in fact there isn’t any furniture at all!
“The pasty was nothing short of perfection. Beautiful golden brown colours with just a hint of oil here and there on the flaky pastry – the contents, mincey and bursting with savoury flavour. And on first bite it revealed a more than generous amount of peas, which shone like fresh mined emeralds against the mid slate grey meat and potato content.”
