Stephen Flynn has accused Rishi Sunak of "putting money before morals" after he refused to return £10m given to the Conservatives by a donor accused of racism.
The SNP Westminster leader said the comments made by Frank Hester were "rude", "racist", "odious" and "downright bloody dangerous" during Prime Ministers Questions on Wednesday.
Hester is alleged to have said Diane Abbott, Britain’s longest-serving black MP, made him “want to hate all black women” and that she “should be shot”.
Sunak initially only said the comments were "wrong" but not "racist". He eventually said they were racist after Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch did so.
A Tory minister said the party would not give the donations back to Hester and that the party could take money from him in the future.
Hester has only apologised for being rude but not for being racist.
Flynn said in the House of Commons on Wednesday: "The Conservative Party have accepted a £10m donation from an individual who has said that one of our parliamentary colleagues in this chamber should be shot.
"Why is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom putting money before morals?"
Sunak replied: "The comments were wrong.
"The gentleman in question has apologised for them and that remorse should be accepted."
Flynn said: "This is complete rubbish. The gentleman in question apologised for being rude.
"He wasn't rude. He was racist. He was odious and he was downright bloody dangerous.
"On Monday, No10 said we've seen an unacceptable rise in extremist activity which is seeking to divide our society and hijack our democratic institutions.
"Isn't the extremism that we should all be worried about the views of those tory donors that we've read about last week?"
