Stephanie Beatriz is opening up about being in active labor while recording a song for Encanto.
In a new interview with Variety, the 41-year-old actress revealed that she actually kept that part secret from director Byron Howard on the day of recording “Waiting on a Miracle”.

According to Stephanie, she says she “didn’t want to tell anybody at Disney because I didn’t want anyone to freak out.”
“I was already having some contractions when we were scheduled to record that day. I was like ‘Well, fingers crossed I finish the song before [the baby] comes!’”
Stephanie welcomed daughter Rosalie the actual next day.
Byron added that they had known Stephanie was “very, very, very, very ready to have that baby. But she did not tell us she was almost, almost ready.”

Angelique Jackson Sandra Oh and Stephanie Beatriz will receive special honors at the 2022 Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous and People of Color) Film Festival.Oh will be presented with the James Schamus Ally Award, which recognizes a great ally to the LGBTQ community, while Beatriz receives the Fusion Achievement Award, which recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to LGBTQ stories, arts, and media visibility. The honors will be bestowed at the film festival’s opening gala on April 8.
