One pup had to be out down when a litter of six was found abandoned in a taped-up cardboard box stuffed in a hedge.

The unwanted five-week-old pets were abandoned in a cardboard box with words 'Xmas Decs Upstairs' written on the top stuffed in a hedge in Ellesmere Port last Thursday, August 24.

The black pups were discovered in a hedge by a passer-by in a park near Frome Court in Ellesmere Court.
RSPCA inspector Anthony Joynes, who transported the puppies to the charity’s animal hospital, said: "Thankfully, the remaining puppies are responding well to treatment, though it’s going to be a long road to recovery.

Anthony wants to hear from anyone with information about the puppies.
He said: "It looks like these puppies were deliberately
