Humza Yousaf met the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham in Edinburgh today.
The First Minister and the former Labour MP met in St Andrew's House on Tuesday morning. They spoke about various issues including the cost of living crisis and devolution.
Burnham was in Edinburgh for an appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe with former Labour MSP Neil Findlay.
There had been a row between Burnham and Yousaf's predecessor Nicola Sturgeon in 2021.
The Mayor accused the SNP of treating the north of England “with contempt” after Sturgeon imposed a travel ban on Scots going to Manchester during lockdown.
Manchester had the highest rates of Covid in the country at the time.
The official First Minister Twitter account posted on Tuesday afternoon: "First Minister Humza Yousaf met the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham in Edinburgh today.
"They discussed issues including the cost of living crisis, rail services, devolution and relations with the UK Government."
The post included pictures of the pair together. It was shared by Burnham.
Burnham unsuccessfully attempted for the Labour leadership in 2010 and 2015.
He told former Scottish Labour leadership candidate Findlay during the talk in Edinburgh’s Freemasons Hall that Labour must show it can bring hope to win the next election.
He said: “The Labour Party has put itself in a position where it can bring change – and that’s a great thing, congratulations to the people who’ve been there, put us in that position – the Labour Party needs to show how it can bring hope.”
He said most of his contact with the upper echelons of the party is through “reading briefings about me in the newspapers”.
He added: “We have allowed a corrosive, divisive politics to separate people one from another.”
