Simon Cowell's appearance during the latest Royal Variety Show left viewers baffled - and it appears for the same reason. The former X Factor judge and Britain's Got Talent boss appeared during the pre-recorded entertainment show on ITV on Sunday night (December 17).
The annual event saw Bradley Walsh back as host and showcases the best talent from Britain and beyond across music, theatre and comedy, filmed often in the presence of members of the Royal Family at the Royal Albert Hall.
The latest show featured performances by Cher, Zara Larsson, McFly, Paloma Faith, Rick Astley and Hannah Waddingham and the ENO Chorus. There was also a musical medley to celebrate Disney's 100th anniversary with cast members from Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Hercules and The Lion King.

And while comedy came from the likes of Tom Allen, Rosie Jones and Simon Brodkin, the show also featured a moving tribute to theatre impresario Bill Kenwright, who died in October, featuring Melanie C, Ben Forster and the National Youth Choir.
