A second man has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of Gogglebox star George Gilbey.
The beloved TV personality tragically lost his life after falling through a skylight while working in Shoeburyness, Essex on March 27th. Essex Police said that the 36-year-old suspect, from Witham, remains in custody and inquiries are ongoing.
The force previously arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and he was subsequently released under investigation. A joint investigation by police and the Health and Safety Executive is ongoing.
Last month, an inquest hearing took place in Chelmsford where it was revealed that Gilbey had fallen through a skylight while working on a roof. A post-mortem examination confirmed that his injuries were "consistent with a fall from height." Senior coroner Lincoln Brookes decided to postpone proceedings for a total of four months at the request of Essex Police, reports the Mirror. "[Gilbey] was working on a roof when he fell through a plastic skylight and landed on the ground below," shared coroner's officer Deborah Frost during the hearing.
Shortly after George's devastating passing, Essex Police had disclosed that a man had tragically died in Shoebury. Delivering the sad news, they said: "We received a report of an incident at Campfield Road in Shoebury at around 10am this morning (27 March), during which a man who was working at height had fallen and sustained an injury. "The ambulance service including air ambulance were in attendance.
