Gogglebox star George Gilbey's funeral took place on Thursday, attended by hundreds. His loved ones finally had the chance to say their goodbyes.
At the age of 40, George, who also featured on Celebrity Big Brother, sadly passed away on March 27 due to a workplace incident.
The much-loved Gogglebox personality was commemorated at an emotion-filled service and committal at a crematorium close to his home in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. It followed the conclusion of the inquest into his death reports the Mirror.
His life was celebrated with a wake where friends gathered to bid their farewells. The funeral showcased photos of George spanning decades, with one special image of him entering the Big Brother house gracing the cover.
The poignant poem 'Afterglow' was recited during the moving service. Sources told The Sun that "George has been laid to rest and his family have said their last goodbyes, it was a terribly sad day and devastating for everyone concerned, particularly his mother Linda who was in bits," adding, "George also has a daughter and it was terrible for her as well as his ex-partner."
The inquest has heard that George, a self-employed electrician, tragically died from severe head and torso injuries after falling from height while working. The fall happened when he fell through a skylight while working on a roof, and his injuries were "consistent with a fall from height," as stated at the hearing in Chelmsford, by the Essex coroner's court.
Father to a daughter named Amelie with Gemma Conway in 2016, George is best known for his appearances on the sofa alongside his mum Linda and step-dad Pete.
