It is a truth universally acknowledged that the trampy heroine of any modern female-slanted romcom must make Bridget Jones look like Grace Kelly by comparison. And while Leah McKendrick’s feature debut offers more caustic com than rom, it leans hard into the legacy of Helen Fielding’s famously underachieving singleton. Since then, we’ve had Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids and Sophie Hyde’s Animals, and Scrambled certainly belongs in that more riotous subgenre of movies about women behaving badly.
McKendrick takes a different tack to most, though, and its subject matter — how do you prepare for motherhood when you’re not yet fit to be a mother? — is a tough sell, and often feels like raw material for an incredibly personal stand-up set from a comedian that likes to shock with overshare.
McKendrick — who writes and directs herself in her feature debut — plays small-time jewelry designer Nellie Robertson, who has recently broken up with her longtime partner, Shawn. We meet her at the wedding of her best friend, Sheila (Ego Nwodim), who seems shell-shocked by her own decision to tie the knot (“We were gonna be the last single bitches at the end of the earth!”).
Realizing that Sheila is pregnant, Nellie rescinds her kind offer of a tab of Molly, but drops one herself and parties hard at the reception. Which is where she has her epiphany: after running into an older friend, she gets a harsh lecture about the course her life is on. “I know you because I was you,” says the friend. “And so, the next time you’ve just boned a hot bartender and you’re sitting in his bathroom, staring at a shower crusted with pubes and that fucking Fight Club/Reservoir Dogs/Scarface poster, I want you to remember my face.”
That face will be there to

watch one of those here, in case you need to see it again (you do). Instead, it hilariously reunites three of the stars of “Freaks and Geeks” to finally finish up that game of “Dungeons & Dragons” they played all the way back in the show’s final episode. Now, we assume if you’re reading this you know what the previous paragraph is talking about, but just in case, “Freaks and Geeks” was a hugely influential single camera comedy-drama that ran for a single season from 1999-2000.

Love Island isn’t just about love, it turns out, as winners can also bag an impressive £50k cash prize if they’re able to win over the public’s hearts and minds. Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, who recently appeared for the reunion special, became the latest couple to do just that when they were crowned the winners of the 2023 winter edition of the show. The couple, who work as a teacher and a social worker respectively, have already revealed that they plan to spend their money wisely and ensure at least some of it goes to a good cause.
Fans of Love Island are convinced that Casey O'Gorman and Rosie Seabrook have already split after the winter series of the show came to an end. Eagle-eyed fans noticed a sense of awkwardness between Casey, 26 and Rosie, 24, on the reunion show which aired on ITV2 on Sunday night, as well as some hints on social media. The pair, who were only together for a couple of weeks in the villa after Rosie arrived as a bombshell quite late into the show.
Julia MacCary editor Ally Love already wears quite a few hats: Peloton instructor and global lead of instructor strategic initiatives, “Courtside Conversations” podcast host and producer, Adidas global ambassador, Brooklyn Nets in-arena host, model, “Love Squad” founder and CEO, to name a few. But the social media and dance personality has a new title – competitive game show host – to add to the list. The grumpy to her sunshine. Drew Barrymore came to Hugh Grant’s defense after the actor received negative backlash for his recent interview with Ashley Graham.
Murtada Elfadl Willem Dafoe defies classification. He appears in blockbusters and arthouse films, in lead roles or as part of an ensemble. What can be counted on is that he’ll add a dash of idiosyncratic malevolence to whatever part he’s playing. Whether he’s playing Christ, Antichrist or somewhere in between, there’s always something slightly off that makes him watchable. In “Inside,” director Vasilis Katsoupis provides him with a showcase part in what is essentially a one-man show that Dafoe carries with aplomb. Dafoe’s character is an art thief named Nemo. He is first shown breaking into a high-tech Manhattan apartment. He’s connected to someone on the outside via microphone. It’s clear they hacked into the apartment’s security system. The camera slowly reveals the apartment as an expensive and impeccably designed but sterile abode. Its colors are monochromatic in a mostly bluish hue, there’s an indoor pond and plants that look plastic. The few pops of color come from the art on the walls. Nemo’s there to steal a valuable Egon Schiele portrait which he can’t immediately locate. As he looks around the vast space, inspecting the many pieces of art, the security system malfunctions. He’s trapped inside this gilded cage. Before long he realizes that his cohorts are not coming to save him. Nor is anyone else. He’s on his own.
The Shazamily is back, and on a much larger scale, but at its heart this superhero saga is still about family, and that’s the good thing here.
Former Love Island star Anna-May Robey has predicted that the Love Island reunion is "going to kick" off, after the jaw-dropping "snake" and "liar" comments made my Farmer Will. Two ships passing in the night! Jesse Spencer will return to Chicago Fire for a special episode amid Taylor Kinney’s temporary leave of absence.
Love Island viewers have become convinced that the recently evicted Casey O'Gorman and Rosie Seabrook have already broken up just days after they left the villa together. The duo had a rocky start on the show, particularly because Casey ditched fan-favourite Claudia Fogarty for new bombshell Rosie and left the former upset and crying for days. Yet just as they seemed to be building on their connection and growing closer, even forming a special bond with some of the other couples in the villa, they were voted out by the public for being the "least compatible" couple.

Chicago Med actress Torrey DeVitto grew up on tour with Billy Joel (her father, Liberty, was his drummer), and Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks (her mom, Mary, is Stevie's best friend), so it's no wonder the 38-year-old has learned the importance of being your own person."What I admire most about someone like Stevie is that she completely embodies their craft," Torrey told HELLO! as part of our International Women's Day issue. "Stevie is someone who just eats, sleeps and drinks who she is, what she is for music .
