Pupils and staff in schools will no longer be required to wear face masks when in classrooms.
However, guidance states face coverings should still be worn in "indoor communal areas" such as in corridors.
Meanwhile, the legal requirement to show a Covid vaccine certification or a record of a negative test is lifted.
This means that businesses will no longer need to ask attendees for proof of vaccination or negative test (lateral flow or PCR).
It follows widespread criticism of the scheme by the nighttime industry but businesses may choose to do so if they wish.
The moves mark a big step further to 'normality' with other measures also scheduled to be lifted on March 21.
