A cat that was spotted wandering the streets of Perth was this week reunited with its worried owners after she was reported missing two months ago – 120-miles away in the Highlands.
Spooky the moggie was seen acting “quite skittish” and “lost” – hiding under cars. It was only when one local community Facebook page aimed at reuniting lost pets with their owners got involved that owners were traced.
Spooky was found by resident Amy Hart, who then contacted the volunteers from Missing Pets, Perth and Kinross Scotland. They attended and scanned Spooky’s microchip and it was discovered that the female cat had gone on its own adventure.
Volunteers assumed that Spooky lived nearby, but the microchip details revealed the Nairn address and Spooky’s owner, Lindsay Arbuckle, was contacted and told the good news – that she was safe and well.
In a post on the page this week, the group said: “Last night a local Perthshire resident alerted us to a black cat in town that seemed quite skittish and ‘lost’ – hiding under cars. As no vets were available at that time, we managed to get out and scan the cat.
“Assuming that she was a local just out on a wander. How wrong were we? Very! The microchip details loaded and the address was 114 miles away – in Nairn! So we called the owners and amazingly it was their missing cat Spooky. Spooky had went missing from home almost two months ago.”
Amy, who first noticed Spooky in her street, said: “I knew it wasn’t right when I saw her and a man along from me helped get her in the carrier! I honestly wonder if she’s been outside the whole time poor little angel! So happy she’s now home safe.”
The group added: “The family had almost given up hope of ever seeing their little black kitty again. They just hoped

Brent Lang Executive Editor Most people know that social media has become a cesspool of disinformation, a digital hydra that feeds off toxicity and conspiracy theories. But somehow YouTube, the second-most-popular site in the world, has avoided the scrutiny that’s come Twitter and Facebook’s way. “The YouTube Effect,” a new documentary from Alex Winter, could change that. It takes a tough look at the role that the Google-owned service played in everything from the Jan. 6 riot to the 2019 New Zealand mosque shooting by promoting election denialism and white supremacy. “People don’t know that YouTube and Google are the biggest purveyors of disinformation,” Winter says. “One reason is people don’t understand what YouTube is. Is it just a place to watch cat videos, or is it something else? And the second reason you hear about it less is because Google is so deep-pocketed that it has some of the strongest lobbyists in the world working for them. That’s made them less likely to be legislated against.”
