Scots are expected to be battered by snowfall later this week - with some areas seeing as much as a foot of wintry showers.
An area of low pressure is expected to travel into Scotland from tomorrow, which will bring rain, snow and potentially gale force winds for many of us.
The BBC reports that up to a foot (12 inches) of snow could land in parts of the Grampians and Highlands between Tuesday and Thursday.
Temperatures are also expected to struggle in single figures across the north of Scotland during the spell and could even dip below freezing.
A Met Office weather warning for snow has been issued for northern Scotland from 4am on Tuesday until 11am on Wednesday.
Forecasters have warned of potential disruption in the likes of Angus, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands.
Wind from the north could potentially prolong the cold snap from Thursday onwards.
BBC Weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood said: “There will be significant snowfall across the Highlands and Grampian, but most of this will be on the hills - however, some the of the heavier bursts could make its way to lower levels.
“As we move from Tuesday into Wednesday, there’s an area of low pressure that drags weather fronts from the west to the east and it could be a windy day wherever you are.
“There’s the potential for gusts to gale force winds in southern, central and northern Scotland. There will be blustery showers blown in by that wind and some snow, particularly in the north of Scotland, with some of that coming to lower levels.
“On Thursday, we’ll have a cold northernly wind that will travel down south.”
The news of snowfall comes after Scotland recorded its sunniest ever March on record, according to preliminary data from the Met Office.
