The top restaurants and hotels in Scotland were crowned last night at the AA Hospitality Awards 2023.
Hosted by TV presenter Claudia Winkleman, the 2023 event was held at Grosvenor House in London on Monday evening. The awards recognise the best hotels and restaurants in the UK across numerous categories.
The winner of the AA Restaurant of the Year in the Scotland category was Cail Bruich in Glasgow. The high-end restaurant, which serves up seasonal and locally sourced produce, is headed by Lorna McNee — the only current female chef in the country holding a Michelin star.
Meanwhile, the AA Hotel of the Year award in Scotland went to Fingal in Edinburgh. Scotland’s only luxury floating hotel, Fingal is permanently berthed on the capital's vibrant waterfront.
The AA inspectors singled out Fingal for the top accolade and praised the exceptional quality of the ship’s stylish interior design, meticulous attention to detail, unique maritime heritage, outstanding customer service and fine dining experience.
Hotel manager Mari-Nel Scorer commented: "It’s with great pride that Fingal has been recognised by the AA as Scotland’s Hotel of the Year for our commitment to offering a world-class visitor experience to all our guests.
"This prestigious title is a real testament to the dedication and professionalism of our entire crew, who work tirelessly to ensure everything is shipshape.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The most appreciative audience for “Dicks: The Musical” may be the Venn-diagram overlap between viewers who think the envelope for raunchy language in R-rated comedies doesn’t get pushed nearly hard enough and people who saw “Les Miserables” on Broadway three times. In other words, the warning not for every taste has never applied more.
America’s most eligible bachelor, said goodbye to three women on Thursday night’s episode of The Golden Bachelor, host Jesse Palmer began his ritual consolations, one of the few responsibilities of the largely ceremonial role of host of ABC’s Bachelor franchise. But the recipient of his “there, there”s and canned “it’s okay”s was not , the 65-year-old retired project manager; nor was it 60-year-old Natascha, who, frankly, seemed more upset that she had been required to stand (in heels!) for the entirety of the rose ceremony than with the fact that she had just lost out on a future with the last likable man on network television. Palmer, with his everyman face and agreeable, inoffensive suit, leaned in close to Mr.

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor The Oscars love it when a movie sticks it to the man. Films focusing on systemic inequality, or the monied elite’s morally murky ways, arrive as many industry voters have spent the better part of the year on the picket lines, holding out for a better contract from studios. These movies could strike an emotional chord with Academy members when they cast their ballots.
