A new study has revealed the cheapest and most expensive areas in Scotland for a pint at a Wetherspoon pub.
As anyone who has ever visited a Wetherspoons before will know, the chain is known for its low prices compared with most other pubs. However, even between different Wetherspoon branches, the cost can vary wildly.
The new research, carried out by investment data website AltIndex, has revealed the Wetherspoon pubs throughout the UK where you can expect to pay the most and least for a pint of Carling. According to the results, Edinburgh is the priciest destination in the country, while pubs in a number of areas charge just £2.63.
As reported by The Mirror, those heading to a Wetherspoon branch in Scotland's capital can expect to pay £4.03 for a pint of Carling. The city is home to eight Wetherspoons, as well as a ninth at Edinburgh Airport.
On the other hand, the study found that branches in Clackmannanshire, East Lothian, Inverclyde, South Lanarkshire, and Stirling and Falkirk all charge £1.40 less for a pint of Carling. Elsewhere, a pint at a Wetherspoon pub in the Scottish Borders will set you back just 11p more at £2.74.
The 20 cheapest locations across the UK all sell a pint for under £3, including other Scottish destinations such as West Dunbartonshire and North Lanarkshire. A Carling in these areas costs £2.80 and £2.86 respectively.
Elsewhere, Edinburgh was second only to Inner London when it comes to the most expensive Wetherspoons for a pint. If you're heading to the centre of the English capital, you can expect to pay £4.76 — over £2 more than the cheapest Scottish locations.

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic How distraught is Annette, the severely troubled British mother of two played by Daisy Ridley in “Magpie?” She has gotten a short angular haircut, one that might, in another context, be the height of chic (very Isabella Rossellini). Except that the movie uses it as a symbolic expression of her trauma, like Mia Farrow’s iconic Vidal Sassoon cut in “Rosemary’s Baby.” Annette, who’s on some serious medication, looks at a mirror until it breaks. Does she have telekinetic powers? No, she broke it with her hand (which bleeds into the sink), but the force of her repressed rage is palpable.
