SAG Awards to honor best performances — with some distance

The Crown continued its winter awards season reign at the 2021 SAG Awards, winning two prizes: best actress in a drama series and best ensemble in a drama series. The series went into Sunday night nominated for best ensemble in a drama series, male actor in a drama series (Josh O'Connor) and female actor in a drama series (Gillian Anderson, Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin).

Youn Yuh-jungtook home a historic SAG award in the best female actor in a supporting role category on Sunday night. The Minari actress beat out Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy), Olivia Colman (The Father) and Helena Zengel (News of the World) to become the first Korean actress to ever win the category.

The 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards honours the year's best achievements in film and television performances. The one-hour, pre-taped show which is being held virtually does not have a host this year, nor the usual banquet or red carpet.

Since the pandemic, awards shows have been contained in Zoom chats and other virtual spaces. Screen Actors Guild Awards, SAG-AFTRA minted a new class of winners during a reimagined awards ceremony.Honoring the best in film and television — as well as stunt people in both — this year's most-nominated TV series were and, while Chadwick Boseman made SAG history, becoming the first actor to earn four nominations in a single year.

If Netflix was going to have a golden night this award season it was going to be at the SAG Awards and, surprise, the actors came through.
