Ryan Giggs denied he tried to 'control' his former girlfriend's 'every movement' or 'make her into a slave', as his trial continues. The former Manchester United star, 48, finished giving evidence after spending three days in the witness box at Manchester Crown Court.
He denies headbutting Kate Greville and elbowing her sister Emma in the same incident in November 2020. He has also pleaded not guilty to displaying controlling or coercive behaviour towards his ex between August 2017 and November 2020.
On the ninth day of the trial, jurors also heard a number of affectionate text messages which the couple exchanged. In a message in April 2017, Mr Giggs told Ms Greville: "I have to continuously ask 'how the f*** did I pull you'.

He told Ms Greville she was a 'painting, a supermodel, a thoroughbred' and that he loved her 'more than all my Premier League appearances, which is a lot'.
In a poem sent on a later date that year, Ms Greville messaged him saying 'every day you do me proud, because you’re well endowed'. Mr Giggs replied with a poem saying 'you make me feel funny down there, when you stare'.
Earlier Mr Giggs was answered further questions by his barrister Chris Daw QC. He was asked about the events of November 1, 2020, when Ms Greville alleges that he headbutted her at Mr Giggs' home in Worsley.
Mr Giggs has denied headbutting her and said it was a 'clash of heads'. Jurors earlier heard clips of a 999 call which was made by Emma Greville, Ms Greville's sister who had been looking after their dog Mac while the couple had been at the Stock Exchange hotel in Manchester.
