Daily Express Sunday that Victoria, who occupied the throne from 1837 to 1901, wanted members of her household to have “complete self-respect and good behavior when in front of the general public.”The rule has endured all the way to current members of the royal family — though it’s noticeably less strictly enforced. In 1941, then-Princess Elizabeth and her sister, Margaret, dressed up as Cinderella to take part in a re-enactment of the fable.
HELLO! magazine’s “A Right Royal Podcast” recently sat down with historians and a paranormal expert to learn more about infamous palace hauntings from over the years. With centuries of history behind castle walls, it’s no secret that many royals have had encounters with neighbors from the beyond.“King Charles’ grandmother, The Queen Mother, grew up in one of the most haunted venues in Scotland — Glamis Castle,” Kinsey Schofield, host of the “To Di For Daily” podcast, told Fox News Digital. “It is believed that multiple ghosts haunt the hallways of Glamis.
Peter Morgan, the creator of Netflix’s sweeping Queen Elizabeth II series “The Crown,” is having a royal crisis. Only a tiny contingent of people sworn to secrecy have seen the show’s sixth and final season, set to premiere in November. But somehow a tabloid — as is always the case with anything related to the royal family — has got hold of a scene in which Prince Charles talks to a vision of Diana after her death.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour topped the US box office for a second week, seeing off competition from Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon.According to Deadline, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour took $32million (£25.5m) in its second weekend in the region, a 67 per cent drop. Globally, film has taken $164.8million following its release on October 12 in the US across AMC theatres and October 13 in other territories.Killers Of The Flower Moon, meanwhile, took $23million (£18.9m) in its opening weekend at the US box office, which is the third best opening for Scorsese, following 2010’s Shutter Island ($41m) and The Departed ($26.9m) in 2006.Scorsese’s film, however, topped the worldwide box office with $44million (£36.2m), with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour slipping to second with $41.5million (£34.1m) globally in its second week (via Screen Daily). While Scorsese’s latest film may struggle to become profitable against its estimated $200million budget, the opening numbers are considered a success due to its lengthy 206-minute running time and the fact it’s a period movie skewed towards adults.Killers Of The Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone, is also set to release on Apple TV+ at an unconfirmed date.In a five-star review, NME wrote: “Each conversation between De Niro and DiCaprio is an exercise in clever euphemism and while some may find the tempo a bit too stately, the story of an entire people’s eradication deserves to be told in full.
There were two major new entries this weekend at the international box office, one local (Tamil thriller Leo: Bloody Sweet) and one from Hollywood. Starting with the latter, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon from Apple, Paramount and Imperative Entertainment, had a big opening with $21M in 63 offshore markets and No. 1s in 24 of those, including France, Germany, Australia, Spain, Netherlands and Switzerland. The global bow, factoring in its strong domestic opening, was $44M; great for a period movie with a long running time and at a moment when talent could not promote it due to the actors strike.
Leonardo DiCaprio may be an Oscar-winning actor, but you just can’t deny Taylor Swift’s fandom.
Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic Hollywood loves to repeat success, and now more than ever it needs to. If there’s a promising way to draw people into movie theaters that the industry doesn’t capitalize on, it will only be colluding in the decay of its own future. So when I came out of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” having experienced, for the first time in a while, what it was like a share a concert film with an ecstatic audience, one of my first thoughts was, “How could they do this again?” You might say that’s a silly question, since it has one obvious answer: They can’t.
It seems like Christopher Nolan is a Swiftie!
The recent resurgence in popularity of "Suits," the USA Network drama that ran from 2011 to 2019 and starred Meghan Markle in her most famous role before becoming royalty, has prompted reports of a new "Suits" show. Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large SPOILER ALERT: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 10, Episode 5 of “The Masked Singer,” “A Celebration of Elton John,” which aired Oct. 18 on Fox. Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote the track “Philadelphia Freedom” in 1975 at the behest of tennis icon Billie Jean King (whose team was the Philadelphia Freedoms). So, it was wildly appropriate that King performed the song on Wednesday during “A Celebration of Elton John” on Fox’s “The Masked Singer.” King performed “Philadelphia Freedom” as the Royal Hen — and the fact that we know she was on the show means that, alas, she was also the next celebrity to be unmasked on “Singer.” “A true trail blazer, she is famous for championing equal opportunities for all, and has made it her royal mission to be a voice for the voiceless,” a “Masked Singer” voiceover shared in giving the hints to whom the Royal Hen might be.
