The Queen's death forced Edinburgh council officers to work 18-hour days as the capital came front and centre in the aftermath of her passing, a councillor has claimed.

During his first address to the United Kingdom as monarch on Friday 9 September, King Charles reflected on how the death of Queen Elizabeth II would change the royal family. After becoming King immediately upon the death of his beloved mother, 73 year old Charles had to give up a number of his titles including that of the Prince of Wales, which he was given when he was just nine years old.

The Royal Family have shared a final unseen photograph of Her Majesty the Queen after she was laid to rest on Monday 19 September. People from across the globe tuned in for the Queen’s historic state funeral, which drew to a close yesterday evening as she was laid to rest alongside her husband Prince Philip. Following her final journey, the Royal Family shared an unseen photograph of the late monarch alongside a meaningful Shakespeare quote that was used by King Charles III in his first public address as King.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat behind the King and Queen Consort during the funeral service of the late Queen Elizabeth II, putting them front and centre for the Royal event. This seating arrangement is being said to reflect that the couple may be back in the heart of the Royal family.

King Charles III and other members of the royal family marched behind Queen Elizabeth II‘s coffin as the Royal Navy transported her to Westminster Abbey ahead of her funeral.

The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday 19 September in what will be a state ceremony at Westminster Abbey attended by many members of the Royal Family and foreign dignitaries. The service will begin at 11am after the Queen’s coffin is taken in procession from the Palace of Westminster, where it has been Lying-in-State, to Westminster Abbey.

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been thrown back into Royal life in London.The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have remained in the UK after the Queen, Harry's grandmother, died on Thursday 8 September at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Meghan, 41, and Harry, 37, were already in the UK when Her Majesty was placed under medical supervision, as they'd flown over from the US to attend charity events in Manchester and London a few days prior.

As he arrived, the new monarch waved to public onlookers, while looking understandably emotional as he continues the preparations for his mother’s funeral.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were seen arriving at Buckingham Palace last night, as they reunited with the Royal Family to receive the Queen's coffin as it arrived there from Edinburgh. Prince William, 40, and Harry, 37, will both support their father King Charles, 73, today during the procession of Queen Elizabeth II's coffin, which will be taken from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where it will lie-in-state.

From there, Her Majesty was taken to London today, Tuesday 13 September.The Queen was accompanied by her daughter Princess Anne, who said it was an “honour and a privilege” to escort her mother’s coffin.

The Queen’s passing on 8 September was a sombre moment not just for the country, but for the world. In the days that followed, her successor King Charles III took over the throne and as per tradition there have been many ceremonies taking place in Scotland, where she died, and these will continue in London when she arrives.

After making its journey from her Scottish estate to the Palace of Holyroodhouse on Sunday, the procession of Queen Elizabeth II's coffin to St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh took place on Monday.The coffin is expected to be flown to London on Tuesday. A rehearsal for the procession of the hearse from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster will be completed, ahead of the state funeral of Britain's longest reigning monarch on 19 September.

Camilla paid a subtle tribute to the Queen Mother as she wore a rarely seen brooch at Elizabeth II's coffin procession in Edinburgh.The Queen Consort, 75, was seen wearing a black coat dress with silver detail and a large black feathered hat for the emotional procession from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St Giles' Cathedral and the vigil that followed. It was the same dress she previously wore to the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh – but it was a beautiful diamond brooch that really caught the eye of royal watchers. Camilla donned the Diamond Thistle Brooch that was often worn by the Queen Mother and was one of her favourite pieces of jewellery.

Other members of the Royal Family will also travel to Edinburgh alongside Charles to walk on foot behind the coffin.

Part of the Honours of Scotland and considered to be the oldest crown jewels in the British Isles, the Crown of Scotland will play an important ceremonial role ahead of the funeral of the Queen. Her Majesty's coffin will be adorned with the Crown whilst lying in state for 24 hours at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh this afternoon.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on the 8 of September, plans have been put in place in the days leading up to her funeral as King Charles and his Queen Consort, Camilla step into their new royal roles. Over the weekend the Queen’s coffin arrived at the royal residence in Edinburgh after a six-hour journey from Balmoral.The coffin remained in the Throne Room at the Palace of Holyroodhouse allowing staff were able to pay their final respects.
