He appeared on The One Show alongside actors Stephen Graham and Vinette Robinson about the new series of chef drama Boiling Point. But despite the serious tone of their series, the actors couldn't help but burst into laughter when Romesh explained the inspiration behind his book.
"I am obsessed with hip-hop," he said. "And cakes."
The admission led to howls of laughter from Graham. But Romesh just added: "I never wanted to be a comedian. I'm very clear about that, I wanted to be spitting hot bars."
Romesh was also on The One Show to promote the 500-word story competition. The competition is open to anyone between five and 11 years old, who wants to write.
