Rodri admitted he was 'close to crying' after a horror challenge forced him off during Manchester City's 4-0 Club World Cup final win over Fluminense.
Rodri injured his right knee after a reckless challenge from Alexsander. He was fit enough to join in the post-match trophy lift and celebrations but the initial aftermath of the tackle looked concerning and the Spaniard was in a lot of pain.
In his post-match press conference, manager Pep Guardiola allayed immediate fears that the midfielder could be out for a long period of time. And while Rodri was also quick to provide more encouraging news, he admitted it was a scary moment when the pain initially came.

“I was very lucky today, to be honest," Rodri told Sky Sports. "I think it was one of the worst tackles they did in my career.
"I was so scared because I felt my knee, but fortunately, it was nothing. And I said to the player, ‘You cannot do this kind of actions’.
“But today I won more than a trophy; I go home safe. But to be honest, I was very close to crying because I felt very, very worried about what happened. But, it’s nothing.”
Guardiola will also have been incredibly worried in the immediate aftermath, having seen how his side struggled in Rodri's absence. City have lost all four games without the 27-year-old this season and look set to lose his only natural replacement in defensive midfield, Kalvin Phillips, come January.
