Roads were closed in Manchester city centre on Wednesday afternoon (September 20) amid a rescue mission to help a man who was stuck on scaffolding.
Emergency services descended on Swan Street and Oldham Street shortly after 1pm, following reports of an injured man who is believed to have suffered a broken ankle.
A number of fire engines and ambulances were in attendance as a huge fire aerial appliance was seen being used to help bring the man down to safety before he was taken to hospital from the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 1.15pm on 20 September, 2023, a fire engine from Manchester Central and Gorton fire stations plus an aerial appliance from Manchester Central attended an incident on Swan Street, Manchester.
“Some roads were closed and one casualty with a suspected broken ankle was helped down from scaffolding and conveyed to hospital by North West Ambulance Service. GMFRS crews were in attendance for approximately an hour and a half.”
