Rio Ferdinand has praised Cristiano Ronaldo after he scored his 700th goal in club football during Manchester United's trip to Everton.
Ronaldo started the match at Goodison Park on the bench despite starting in midweek away at Omonia Nicosia. Erik ten Hag opted to start with a front three of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Anthony Martial against the Toffees.
However, Martial departed United's warm up early clutching his hip in the process leading to doubts as to whether he would start the match. Martial did end up starting, but he was forced off just before the half hour mark due to the injury.

The Portuguese ace came on his place and notched his first goal of the Premier League campaign for United after being played in by Casemiro on the left-hand side of the box. It may have been his first of the domestic season but the strike was his 700th in club football.
When asked about the feat at half-time on BT Sport, Ferdinand paid tribute to his ex-teammate: "700 club goals, that is more than I have appearances probably almost as many as all of us in the studio [Joe Cole and Joleon Lescott] put together, almost. Phenomenal.
"He would have been hurting being on the bench before this game. He would have been sitting there thinking: 'I should be playing'. That is the answer.
"Ever a pro, no matter what age you are, he is still going out there with something to prove and he is delivering."
