Rick Froberg, a singer, guitarist and visual artist who was part of several national acts, most notably Drive Like Jehu, died suddenly on Friday in San Diego. He was 55.
His death was confirmed by his longtime friend and bandmate John Reis, who wrote on Instagram that he “passed away suddenly last night from natural causes.”
“His art made life better,” Reis wrote. “The only thing he loved more than art and rock and roll was his friends. He will forever be remembered for his creativity, vision and his ability to bring beauty into this world. I love you, Rick. I will miss you for the rest of my life.”
Drive Like Jehu signed to Interscope Records in the early 1990s, the group was an indie rock stalwart in an era where that genre blossomed.
Froberg was part of several bands in his career, including Pitchfork, Hot Snakes and Obits.
In addition to music, Froberg was an illustrator who designed album covers for his bands, as well as for Rocket from the Crypt, Sparta and others.

Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon could fill every seat at their San Diego Comic-Con panels with eager fans hungry for any tiny detail about the animated series with a cult-like following. While this year’s panel in the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom was once again packed, there was an air of uncertainty regarding the series’ future as the panelists were hesitant to give many (if any) details on what’s next for their space odyssey. In January of 2023, Adult Swim terminated their relationship with Roiland, who also voiced the titular characters, after he was charged with domestic violence. “Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland,” the network said in a statement. Hulu also dropped him from “Solar Opposites,” which he co-created, and “Koala Man.” The charges against Roiland were dismissed in March.

For “Dead City,” the renewal comes ahead of the first season finale on July 23. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan star in the series as Maggie and Negan respectively. “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” which stars Norman Reedus, is due to debut in September. “This next chapter in the ‘Walking Dead’ Universe continues to thrive with a terrific inaugural season for ‘Dead City’ and highly anticipated new journey for fan-favorite character Daryl Dixon coming in September,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “We can’t wait to bring ‘Dead City’ fans back to the epicenter of Manhattan for more zip-lining action with Maggie and Negan. Associated Press. The push for the amendment appears to be motivated by the idea that the conservative U.S. Supreme Court may one day reverse its own precedent and overturn its previous decisions allowing marriage equality, meaning any state bans still on the books would immediately become enforceable. While Democrats have long vilified the voter-approved ban, they could have moved sooner to repeal it at any point within the past decade. However, the Supreme Court’s recent lurch rightward on several social issues — following the confirmation of three conservative justices nominated by former President Donald Trump — appears to have led some on the political Left to take a more proactive approach by repealing the ban outright rather than relying on court decisions.“What we are doing today is joyous,” Sen.

Adam B. Vary Senior Entertainment Writer After a successful post-pandemic return in 2022, San Diego Comic-Con will hold a much quieter event for 2023, which runs from July 20-23. The ongoing writers strike and the looming threat of an actors strike — along with several focused fan events (like Star Wars Celebration and Tudum) — have contributed to several major players deciding to sit out this year’s convention, including Marvel, Lucasfilm, HBO, Universal, Sony and Netflix. But there are still some marquee panels that could delight the fans during the week (even if most panels are refraining from announcing whether any actors or writers will be attending). See the Comic-Con schedule below, which will be updated each day as more panels are announced. (All times Pacific Daylight.)
