Ncuti Gatwa will officially take the helm as the 15th Doctor in Doctor Who's Christmas Day episode. He joins the Whoniverse as the first Black actor and first openly queer actor to lead the series.
Fans got their first glimpse of Sex Education star Gatwa, 31, during the last instalment of the 60th anniversary episodes. He has spoken about his nerves on taking on the iconic role - and he's had a long wait.
He auditioned for the part in February 2022 and was unveiled to the world by showrunner Russell T Davies two months later - but only now are viewers getting to see him in the lead role. Gatwa has said: “It’s felt like I’ve been the Doctor and also had to hold off from being the Doctor for most of the last two years. So how do I feel about people seeing it? I feel ready. But I’m sooooo nervous."
