Manchester United have challenged Donny van de Beek to prove Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wrong amid a significant update in his immediate future.
As the clock ticks towards Monday's 11pm deadline, van de Beek is gearing up for a loan switch after terms were provisionally agreed with three clubs in the market for his services - including Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old has not started in the Premier League this season and remains 'upset' about his situation.
Along with Palace, another English club and an unknown team from overseas are understood to have agreed on terms which would see those suitors cover his £120,000-a-week wage and, potentially, stump up a loan fee for his services in the engine room.
Van de Beek saw a temporary move to Everton collapse during the summer.
Limited game-time has seen the Ajax graduate lose his place in the Netherlands squad and, in turn, the midfielder seeks regular starts to underline his 2022 FIFA World Cup aspirations.
Here are a selection of comments posted by United supporters about van de Beek on social media;
@Saadhussain2110 said: "I'm happy for the man. He has been an absolute professional, even after being treated badly by us."
@SznReverse posted: "Sad he couldn't play for us, but he needs game time. I will watch Palace games."
@DazEfx added: "Go and do the business somewhere else Donny and prove the United manager(s) wrong."
