Manchester United hero Edwin van der Sar has delivered a message to Ajax graduate Donny van de Beek after his loan switch to Everton.
The 24-year-old will spend the rest of this season on loan at Goodison Park after newly appointed manager Frank Lampard made his mark on January deadline day.
Netherlands international Van de Beek has started only four games in the Premier League since swapping Ajax for Manchester in September 2020.
None of them have come this season and the Dutchman has totted up 68 minutes in that competition.
Having played a part in van de Beek signing for United - in his role as CEO at Ajax - Netherlands legend van der Sar called on his old team to 'take good care' of the playmaker.
In terms of game-time handed to the midfielder, though, that plea has been ignored.
Indeed, van de Beek has featured 14 times in all competitions this season, but the vast majority of his appearances have come from the substitutes bench. He will now touch down at Goodison Park after undertaking a medical and Everton will pay his entire £120,000-a-week wage packet for the rest of the campaign.
Following his move, several key figures at Old Trafford and beyond have sent van de Beek well-wishes.
Ajax CEO van der Sar was among them and, reading between the lines, the 51-year-old may not, seemingly, be too happy with United right now. Commenting on an Instagram post from the Everton loanee, the former shot-stopper said: "Better luck with this club in the North West of England Donny!"
