Newcastle-born Kayleigh Taylor had the Princes Trust Awards audience giggling after making a cheeky remark to fellow Geordies Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly as she accepted her award. Kayleigh won the NatWest Enterprise Award for her food prepping business, and was handed the award by former Spice Girl Mel C and Big Brother presenter Emma Willis. Ant and Dec then came over to Kayleigh to chat about her win, when she made a playful remark to the pair.
Noting that she was from Newcastle, Ant said to Kayleigh: “You’ve done canny well, like.” Laughing, Kayleigh replied: “So have you!” as Ant and Dec began to chuckle at her sweet response. Viewers of the Awards ceremony, which took place earlier this week, took to social media to gush over how “inspiring” all the winners were. “Loving these #PrincesTrustAwards so inspiring & moving,” wrote one person.
“#PrincesTrustAwards A fantastic charity. Inspirational leaders and volunteers, transforming so many young lives. Well done to all receiving awards,” said another.
Someone else said: “I'm loving watching the #PrincesTrustAwards on TV - I knew they helped young people but had no idea of the all the fabulous ways they did so.” “And all these winners are very inspiring young persons,” they went on. Another viewer said: “Very happy that the Prince’s Trust Awards are on TV this year! As a fellow young person, it’s so inspiring and motivational to see these resilient individuals overcoming challenges and transforming their lives with the support of the Prince’s Trust”. Prince Charles also greeted all the winners this evening, and gave a speech on how difficult thing have been for young people as a result of the pandemic.
