Prince Harry is "natural, funny and likeable" and his new Netflix documentary shows us "what we have lost", a royal expert said. The Duke of Sussex's Netflix documentary series, Heart of Invictus, was released this week and follows ex-military who competed in the 2022 Invictus Games following tragedy as they rebuild their lives. Harry founded the global sporting event, Invictus Games, in 2014 and will attend this year with his wife, Meghan Markle, joining him later when it is held in Germany, Düsseldorf from 9 September.
The event is no doubt very special to Harry with his new documentary providing a closer glimpse inside those lives who compete in the games, along with the duke talking about his own experiences.
But royal expert, Jennie Bond exclusively told OK! that it also "shows us the very best of Prince Harry". Explaining this the journalist and TV presenter said: "Heart of Invictus is an incredibly moving documentary series about the mental – even more than the physical – trauma that wounded servicemen and women endure after leaving military life. "Harry is the perfect lynchpin of the series, because he can identify so closely with the injured personnel.
His wounds, though, are internal. "He talks about the trauma of losing his mother when he was just 12, and how they left him unable to feel anything, unable to cry, until his emotions were triggered during his deployment in Afghanistan, and everything began to unravel." Jennie added: "I think it also makes us realise what we have lost in Harry. He is so empathic, engaging and engaged, funny, natural and likeable.
