Primark is helping shoppers to speed up their time waiting in the queue by introducing self-service checkouts in Scotland as part of a trial period.
The popular budget retail is hugely popular in the UK, but shoppers often face long queues while waiting to pay, especially during peak hours.
Primark has now started to roll out self-service checkouts to a small number of stores across the country as part of a trial period, including in Edinburgh Princes Street.
Initially only available in Sheffield, Northampton, West Bromwich and Kingston, the fast fashion store has now revealed that it has expanded the speedier service to more stores - including the store in Edinburgh.
Primark said that it began trialling the self-service checkouts in a bid to help speed up the checkout process for certain shoppers who didn't have much time, or for those who were only purchasing a small number of items.
Nine stores now offer the self-service tills, with the latest being Coventry, Slough, Edinburgh, Basingstoke and Milton Keynes Shopping Park.
A Primark spokesperson told the Daily Record: "We've installed self-service checkouts across a small selection of stores, including Edinburgh, as part of a trial to understand how they can work for both our customers and our business.
"The response to the checkouts has been really positive to date, especially from customers who are short on time or making smaller purchases, and we continue to monitor the reaction to them before making any future decisions."
