The Premier League is set to implement three substantial changes to the VAR process on the back of the controversial disallowed Liverpool goal at Tottenham.
The Merseysiders saw a Luis Diaz effort incorrectly ruled out after the VAR official Darren England and assistant Dan Cook mistakenly called check complete to stand with the on-field decision of offside despite replays showing the Liverpool forward was clearly in an onside position. The massive mistake has prompted a wave of criticism from fans and pundits while Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp said on Thursday that the fixture should be replayed.
The chaotic audio, released by PGMOL, highlighted further concerns surrounding the decision-making process at Stockley Park. The fallout has prompted the Premier League to make changes to the VAR protocol which will impact all top-flight clubs including Manchester United and Manchester City.

A Premier League spokesperson said: "Having reviewed all relevant footage of the disallowed Luis Diaz goal during the Tottenham Hotspur FC versus Liverpool FC match on Saturday, and PGMOL’s report into the incident, it is clear that there were not only human errors but systemic weaknesses in the VAR process. We accept PGMOL’s immediate recommendations to ensure that such failures are not repeated in the future.
"However, a wider review to seek consistently higher standards of VAR performance will be conducted by the Premier League and PGMOL, supported by other stakeholders, and where necessary further recommended actions will be brought forward and implemented."
