Pontins in Southport has shut from today

Pontins in Southport will be shut from today, the resort has confirmed. Bosses today confirmed that they had made the decision after 'assessing the future viability of the park'.
In a statement on its website, Pontins said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Pontins Southport Holiday Park. After assessing the future viability of the park, we have come to the difficult decision to close our doors.

"Unfortunately, this means that Pontins Southport Holiday Park will be closing from Wednesday 3rd January 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The Southport resort no longer appears as a booking option on Pontins' website.
The Liverpool ECHO reports that it rang Pontins to try and book a holiday after receiving a number of messages from its readers. The call handler said Southport Pontins was "closed from today", the ECHO reports.
The organisers of Southport Weekender also released a statement after they reported being told the holiday destination has "closed its doors with immediate effect".
The statement from Rave Kidz Family Rave, which runs the event, said: "We have just received an official email from Pontins informing us that Pontins Southport has closed it's doors with immediate effect. We are still processing this news ourselves.
"Obviously with the recent closures of Prestatyn & Camber we were worried this may happen but we were assured by the highest people in Pontins that the park would be open for us in February. We now have the task of sorting this mess out.
