Gladiators star Wolf, whose real name is Michael Van Wijk, has revealed he is still carrying an injury from the show more than two decades after it ended. Mike became a household name in the 90s, thanks to his role on ITV's Gladiators, which was hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu.
The feisty game sees members of the public take on super-human Gladiators in tough physical events, and one particularly punishing event introduced in 1994 was called Pyramid. Just imagine two plucky contestants racing up a massive 7.5 metre-high pyramid, with a bunch of burly Gladiators trying to block their path, as you might guess, this led to quite a few nasty falls and injuries.
While the fan-favourite show has since been reprised on BBC, former Gladiator Mike recalled to the Daily Star how he sustained a back injury during that particular game.
The TV star, now 70, confessed: "I'm still carrying an injury from pyramid." He explained: "I landed awkwardly because my legs went one way and my body went the other. I had a contender in my arms and he was moving in mid-air and I was trying to land on the mats with him." Turns out, that old injury wasn't something he could just shake off as he admitted: "It still plays me up today.
Every now and then it goes out and I have to go and see a chiropractor to put it back in." If that doesn't sound rough enough, he revealed that other Gladiators suffered similar fates. Mike told the publisher: "Jet hurt her neck.
