Police officer banned from force after being caught drink driving on Christmas Eve

It was the night before Christmas when PC Helena Stone decided to get behind the wheel of a car, despite being too drunk to drive. Now, after being caught red-handed by her Greater Manchester Police colleagues, she has received a ban from driving and from ever serving in the police again.
The former GMP officer was caught by her fellow officers during their annual sting operation against people who drink and drive during the Christmas period, on December 24, 2022. She was arrested after being stopped in Oldham, and was later brought before Liverpool Magistrates Court.
The judge fined her £400 and disqualified from driving for 18 months, but the consequences of PC Helena's actions did not end there. The following year, after resigning from the force in shame, the former constable was brought before an accelerated misconduct hearing.

Chief Constable Stephen Watson, who presided over the hearing at GMP headquarters on Friday, March 8, ruled that her actions amounted to gross misconduct and she would have been dismissed if still serving. At the conclusion of the misconduct proceedings, he ordered that Stone's name be added to the College of Policing's list of banned officers.
The Chief Constable said: “Whilst the outcome in these proceedings are fully justified, the circumstances reflect the waste of potential of a young officer.
“Her fate should serve as a cautionary note to any officer foolish enough to commit a similar offence.”
