A dispersal order has been put in place around a church in Stockport after a man was attacked.
The Section 35 order will come into place at 2pm today (Friday) for an area around St John's Church in Heaton Mersey. It gives police the power to make people leave the area or not enter it for 48 hours.
This follows a 'serious incident' yesterday, police said. Officers added that a man was believed to have been attacked following a 'concern for welfare' report.

His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening and an investigation is underway. There has also been 'ongoing criminality and anti-social behaviour' in the area, which also includes Heaton Mersey Community Centre, The Heaton pub and all of St John's Road.
A post on the GMP Heatons & Reddish Facebook page today said: "A Section 35 dispersal order has been authorised covering the below area around St John's Church in Heaton Mersey, effective 14:00 today. This gives Police the powers to exclude persons from an area for up to 48hrs.
"This is a consequence of a serious incident yesterday following ongoing criminality/ASB."
A GMP spokesperson added: "At 6:30pm last night, Greater Manchester Police were called by colleagues at NWAS to concerns for welfare of a man at St John’s Place, Heaton Mersey. Initial enquires suggest a man was assaulted, but thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances."
