When Ed Morrish went off to Manchester as a student, his mum gave him a novel alarm clock.
The clock enabled personal messages to be recorded - and she duly obliged to make sure he didn't miss any of his morning lectures.
"Get up Edward," his mum Christine said.
That was in 1998.
Ed, now aged 41, came across the 23-year-old clock as he rummaged through boxes in his garage - and was stunned to find it still worked.
