Phillip Schofield 'not aware' of pal's revenge porn offence when giving character reference

Presenter Phillip Schofield was "not aware" when he gave a friend a character reference, which was used in court, that it was for a revenge porn offence. According to The Sun, the TV presenter, 60, “did not know what the reference would be used for”, when he wrote the reference for Ben Perryman.The 29-year-old received a suspended 12-week jail term and four-year restraining order to stay away from his victim after posting a naked picture of the man on social media, added the publication. Perryman also had to observe a curfew after admitting disclosing a sexual photograph with intent to cause distress at Liverpool crown court in June 2018.
His restraining order recently expired. OK! has reached out to representatives of Phillip and ITV for comment. Perryman, who has previously dated Coronation Street star Rob Mallard, socialised with Phillip over the summer and made sure he documented the outings.
In snaps shared online, the duo enjoyed a takeaway and bottle of £40 Bollinger champagne in a garden. In another image, Perryman posed topless and in sunglasses next to a barbecue with the bubbly on display. He added the cryptic message: “Whoops we did it again.” The pair were pictured on Perryman’s Instagram page in July sharing a picnic with another friend close to Phillip’s home in West London.
Meanwhile Phillip's replacement for We Buy Any Car adverts has been announced following the news that the presenter would be stepping away from the lucrative role. Last week, it was revealed that Phillip would no longer be the face of the car trading company after first appearing in the adverts almost five years ago. Rumours about the departure were sparked after people noticed the firm had removed Phillip’s photos from their website
